In 1521, The Edict of Worms was issued by the Roman Catholic Church that was set in place because of Martin Luther challenging the church by writing The 95 Theses. It labeled Luther a heretic and an enemy of the state. Because of this, Martin went into hiding at Wartburg castle for several years where he wrote and translated the bible into German.
