Calvinism was the protestant system made by John Calvin which interpreted predestination strictly.
Predestination was the belief that all events have been willed by God usually with reference to the eventual fate of the individual soul. People that practiced calvinism had rules such as no adultery, no work on sunday, no card playing, no fighting, no swearing, no dancing and no laughing in church. They believed that God knew from the beginning who would attain salvation and who wouldn't.
They also believed that the ideal government was a theocracy, which is a government controlled by religious leaders and in 1541 protestants of Geneva asked Calvin to become their leader.
